Why Event Planners Should Consider LED Lighting

Over the past few years, LED lights have become crucial instruments for event planners and production companies throughout the country and beyond. The use of LED lighting can completely transform a space and create a dynamic new atmosphere for an event. The versatility and "plug-and-play" qualities of this new breed of lights have completely changed the way private and corporate events are illuminated and allow even the most novice event planners to assemble an unforgettable function. Here are some significant reasons that everyone in the event production business should consider keeping up with the times and investing in the latest LED technology:

Energy consumption: LED lights are extremely energy-efficient and consume only a fraction of the power consumed by conventional lights. Coemar's ParLite LED, which is the industry standard for use as a truss toner or uplight, only consumes around 50 Watts while producing an output comparable to a 500 Watt standard PAR lamp. Not only does this save money in electric costs, but also allows a production company or DJ to power more lights on a single circuit without having to worry about overloading.

Color Spectrum: In the past, production and lighting rental houses had to stock massive quantities of gels or purchase expensive color-scrollers to produce multi-colored light. LED fixtures have the ability to literally produce millions of vibrant colors that can be triggered by the push of a button or slide of a fader. When subtle tones are required, they can create soft pastels by mixing in the light from white LEDs and also have the ability to provide brilliant, saturated blues and reds for a bolder impact. LED lighting works extremely well as a branding and marketing tool on corporate events when a specific tone is requested to match a corporation's primary color(s).

Heat: When crowds of people are packed in a tight space, whether inside a banquet room or under a tent, the temperature tends to rise considerably. The last thing you want is a bunch of incandescent lamps heating up the space even more, making everyone uncomfortable and forcing the AC units to work harder and drive up energy costs. In contrast, LED fixtures produce very little heat, creating a cooler and more pleasant environment.

Eliminate Waste: Not only do PAR cans burn through sheets upon sheets of colored gel filters, the lamps themselves have a limited lifespan and continually need to be replaced. On the other hand, LED fixtures last at least 50,000 hours (the point at which the output is diminished to 70%), which is as much as 62 times the lifespan of a standard halogen PAR lamp.
